Burger Warfare opens in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Shock and awe are what greets the first-time visitor to Burger Warfare located at 1209-100 Battleground Ave. in Greensboro.

Sensory overload might be another way to describe it.

The concept is the latest by Greensboro-based Restaurant Investors, which also owns and operates Darryl’s Wood Fired Grill, Marshall Free House, Pig Pounder Brewery, Pulled Piggy Food Truck and Red Cinemas.

William “Marty” Kotis III, the president of Restaurant Investors, says social media was something he had in mind when creating the concept.

“I want people to come into the restaurant and take cellphone pictures to share with their friends,” Kotis says. “I want it to be like going to Disney.”

The first time I think I heard of a true “single serving” dessert (not just a cupcake or cake pop, but something you simply made one of) was when I first learned of a cake in a mug.

And oh Lord, did this change my life.

Single serving desserts are perfect if you, like me, can’t be trusted with a whole cake or pie. Surprisingly, they’re also actually perfect for making healthy desserts! This is because instead of having to buy two pounds of cashews for a single healthy pie, or invest in a macdaddy Vitamix to make ice cream for your whole family, you only need small quantities of things; things you probably already have in…

Red Thai Coconut Curry

No Thyme to Waste

Last night’s dinner was a quick red Thai coconut curry, definitely share worthy. Minimal ingredients and minimal preparation time – the perfect any-night-of-the-week dinner. There’s no right or wrong amount of heat or acid in this dish, it’s really just up to you to adjust according to your preference. If you like a lot of heat double up on the chilis, and as always – a ton of garlic and ginger is always a good idea. Use the amounts I’ve given bellow as a mere guideline, consider them a minimum and go from there.

Red Thai Coconut Curry:   yields 4 portions

500 ml                     vegetable stock

500 ml                     coconut milk

1/2 cup/100 g         red Thai curry paste

2 knobs                …
